Dr Nikolaos Lyberis

Dr Nikolaos Lyberis is an attorney admitted at the Athens Bar Association (1984). He is the Managing Partner of VAYANOS KOSTOPOULOS Law Firm, specializing in Intellectual Property Law in Greece, Cyprus and worldwide. He is a litigator before the Supreme Courts for civil and administrative matters, representing prestigious clients in trademark, patent and other IP rights conflicts from all branches of industry and commerce. Nikolaos is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Law School of the European University Cyprus (EUC), lecturing Greek and Cypriot Intellectual Property Law and Trust Law. He holds a PhD in European economic and banking law from the Law School of Hamburg University and has served as legal advisor (Referent) at the Max-Planck-Institute for Foreign and Private International Law in Hamburg for 11 years, delivering legal advices to inquiring German courts. Nikolaos was selected in 2020 as an ordinary member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Industrial Property Academy, an institution operating in the frame of the Greek Patent Office, responsible for education and training of IP counsels, thus fostering innovation and patent protection in Greece. In 2014-2015 he was appointed as an ordinary member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Patent Office (OBI). In the years 2005-2010 Nikolaos worked as an active member of the Legislative Committee of the Ministry of Development and Investments for drafting the Greek Trademarks Law 4072/2012, resp. Law 4155/2013, for the implementation of the Intellectual Property Enforcement Directive EC 48/2004 in the Greek legal order. Nikolaos is a member of numerous Greek and international associations focusing on IP law and related legal fields. He is the author of various contributions, inter alia on aspects of European Trademarks Law, Unfair Competition, Patent and Design Law. He has conducted IP seminars for the post-graduate program of the Medical School of Athens University, educational programs for Examiners of the Greek Trademarks Office and other entities.

Matina Evangeliou
Matina EvangeliouAttorney, Senior Associate

Matina is an attorney, member of the Athens Bar Association, with specialization on intellectual property law. She is a graduate of the Law School of the Democritus University and joined Vayanos Kostopoulos Law Firm in 1995. She has successfully defended numerous trademark infringement cases before the Civil Courts of Athens and has been involved in prosecution of trademark applications in ex parte and inter partes proceedings before the competent administrative courts. She is currently responsible for developing IP strategies for many IP rights portfolios of domestic and international clients. She has joined several IP seminars concerning European and international prosecution aspects and has working knowledge of English and French.
Niki Kiayia
Niki KiayiaAttorney, Senior Associate

Niki is an attorney, member of the Athens Bar Association, since 1999, year in which she joined our law firm. She studied the law at the Law School of the Democritus University. During the last 20 years she has collected valuable experience in handling litigation cases in all the intellectual property rights realm, including litigation referring to patent and SPC infringements, unfair competition cases, breach of commercial contract matters, as well as in delivering expert legal opinions on delicate aspects of ambiguous definition of the scope of protection of trademarks, patents, designs and domain names. She has been intensively involved in prosecution and cancellation cases before the EUIPO and the General Court of the European Union. She is proficient in English and has good working knowledge of French.
Mirella Kastrioti
Mirella KastriotiAttorney, Senior Associate

Mirella is an attorney, member of the Athens Bar Association since 2005. She graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens. She also holds a degree in French Philology from the School of Philosophy of the same University. She was awarded a Master’s Degree in Public Law and Political Science from the Democritus University. Mirella is admitted before Civil and Administrative Courts of all instances. She has published several articles in well-known Law Journals and has attended seminars on commercial, criminal and European Justice and civil procedure. She is proficient in French and English and has been working with Vayanos Kostopoulos Law Firm for over 15 years, having successfully represented matters related to intellectual property law before civil and administrative cours.
Christos Bougos
Christos BougosAttorney, Associate

Christos is an attorney and became a member of the Athens Bar Association in 2004. He obtained a law degree from the University of South Wales, UK and a second law degree from the University of Athens. He was also awarded an MSc in Business for Lawyers by ALBA Graduate Business School. Since 2018 Christos joined Vayanos Kostopoulos Law Firm. He is practicing intellectual property law, including the preparation and support of legal means in prosecution proceedings. He also drafts and vigorously defends civil and criminal cases concerning infringements of IP rights before the competent courts. He is fluent in English.
Georgia Lyberi
Georgia LyberiAttorney, Junior Associate

Georgia is an attorney, member of the Athens Bar Association since 2019. She obtained her law degree from the Democritus University (2017) and holds a Master’s degree in law from the University of Athens, focusing on intellectual, business law, competition and economic analysis of competition law. She joined Vayanos Kostopoulos Law Firm in 2019 and has been since practicing IP law. Specifically, she is conducting trademark availability searches, filing and managing trademark and design rights as well as drafting preliminary advices for Greek and European trademark conflicts. She is fluent in English and German.
